Sakai Technical Requirements

“A high-speed internet connection is required to work with Sakai (e.g. broadband cable, DSL). Do not use a dial-up connection.  Mozilla Firefox, which runs on all platforms (PC, Mac, and Unix/Linux) is the preferred browser for Sakai

PLEASE NOTE: Sakai is not optimized for mobile computing.  On a wireless connection, you may experience difficulty sending or receiving data.  The quality of a wireless connection is affected by many factors, including distance from the wireless access point, wireless interference in the area, and the amount of traffic on the wireless network.  If you are using a wireless router in your home, you may be able to correct such a problem by moving your computer closer to your router or using an Ethernet cable to physically connect to it.  If you are using a Wi-Fi hotspot or a wireless air card provided by a cellular communications company, you may need to wait and try again later or contact the service provider who maintains the connection you are using.  If possible, physically connecting your computer to the Internet using an Ethernet cable will allow you to continue using Sakai.

To use Sakai, set your browser to permit pop-ups; contact the WSCC Help Desk if you need assistance with browser set-up for Sakai. Additional media players such as Apple QuickTime, Real Player, or Flash Player may be required to play some content in online/blended courses at WSCC.  You may also require additional plug-ins (Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash, Real Player, etc.), depending on the Resources that your course is utilizing.”
